2018 The Inaugural MPDAC Workshop : UBCO Campus
On 2018.07.27 MPDAC held a one day workshop with collaborators from University of Calgary, University of Alberta, UBC Okanagan, BC Cancer Agency for the Interior, and Interior Health.
Statisticians, Computer Scientists, and Medical Physicists met to discuss ongoing work and to elaborate and foster new collaborations at the intersections of our disciplines. Topics included statistical modeling of fire spreading (a very topical subject this summer in the smoky Okanagan), an over view of Radiation Therapy tissue response and the application of radiomics, statistical control charts, and Bayesian insights into disease epidemiology.
The great variety of talks and brainstorming sessions were excellent learning opportunities for faculty and students alike.
2017 Workshop on Medical Physics and Statistical Science: Exploring Interfaces and Building Collaborations
CANSSI Medical Physics and Statistical Science, Exploring Interfaces and Building Collaborations
Held at the Fields Institute in Toronto April 4 – 5, 2017, members of the MPDAC were members of the organization committee. The main focuses of the workshop were:
- What kinds of data problems are medical physicists working on?
- How might statisticians and medical physicists collaborate to improve outcomes for patients?
This workshop provided an opportunity for medical physicists and statisticians to become acquainted with the research questions in the intersection of their fields.
